MOLTEN ALUMINUM PRODUCER CANADA INC. (MAPCAN). ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION OF NEW ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY MOLTEN ALUMINUM FACILITY IN ONTARIO

Unique and “green” molten aluminum facility to support production at the Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) engine plant in the fall of 2008

Alliston, ON (April 19, 2007) – Molten Aluminum Producer Canada Inc. (MAPCAN) today announced that it will construct a state-of-the-art, energy efficient molten aluminum facility adjacent to the Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) engine plant in Alliston, Ontario.

The facility will reduce its environmental footprint through a combination of energy efficient initiatives to achieve energy savings of 30-50%, including:

-       housing four large, energy-efficient and regenerative furnaces to recycle the heat from the process,

-       insulating the entire facility to retain process heat within the building during the winter,

-       using recycled aluminum requiring only 5 percent of the energy required to make "new" aluminum, while not impacting the quality or properties of foundry alloys, and

-       ensuring all processes, inputs and waste are contained within the facility, controlling any potential dust and noise, while enabling a dust filtration and collection system to filter and purify air before it is released.

Additionally, MAPCAN is currently investigating all recycling options in order to achieve its target of 0% waste to landfill.

MAPCAN, a joint venture between the Honda Trading Group of Companies (HT) and Asahi Seiren Co. Ltd., will begin construction in late spring 2007 pending local government approval and the installation of equipment will occur in early fall. Following the model of similar facilities located in Japan, Indonesia and China, this is the first time that a facility of this type is being constructed in North America by HT.

“We are proud to be a part of a joint venture that introduces a first-of-its-kind facility and creates more jobs in Alliston, Ontario,” said Bradley Wilson, Senior Manager, Materials Division, Honda Trading Canada Inc. “We have a very capable partner in Asahi Seiren Co. which has proven experience. We expect that this uniquely “green” and hi-tech facility will achieve the target of 0% waste to landfill and provide valuable support to the HCM engine plant.”

Scheduled to begin operations towards the end of 2007, the 9,000 m² (97,000 square feet) facility will create more than 40 jobs and supply molten aluminum to HCM’s new engine plant which is expected to produce approximately 200,000 four-cylinder engines a year in support of HCM built Civics.

“At HCM our main goal is to satisfy our customers by providing them with products of the highest quality at reasonable price. Having this facility in close proximity to our new engine plant which comes online in 2008 will enable us to continue to achieve this goal.” said Gilles Madore, HCM Vice President and Project Leader for the HCM Engine Plant.
